Druid Tree Maureen Chaume
B&W acrylic painting on board 5"x7" This is called Druid Tree because, if you turn it upside down, you can see a druid (the tree trunk is his nose!). Another delicate piece ... dynamic tension gives it an inner strength. The orb wasn't there when I first started painting this piece - but as I worked on the tree limbs, they began to move into an interesting shape, as if they were holding a sphere. This was a highly reductive piece - I started with a lot of lines and eliminated many. Sometimes we have to wade through a big tangled mess, to find the beauty hidden within.
